Asia Cup

2014-07-15

Yuichi Nishimura officiated in the 2007 AFC Asia Cup. The same year he took charge of a quarter final and the final of the U17 World Cup in Korea, a match ending in a penalty shoot out won by Nigeria against Spain.

Africa Cup
In 2008 elite referee Nishimura was the only non-African selected to participate in the African Cup of Nations in Ghana.

2010
Nishimura was active at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and at the Club World Cup in Bahrain where he took charge of the final.

tournaments
Nishimura has his name on the list of 52 for the 2014 World Cup. In 2012 he also took charge of two matches at the Olympic Games and the AFC Champions League semi-final between arch-Jeddah rivals Al Ahli and Al Ittihad. Plus a couple of Asian qualifiers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Ref of the year
In 2012 Yuichi Nishimura was elected AFC Referee of the Year. Runner-up was four time winner Ravshan Irmatov.

2014
Yuichi Nishimura was selected for the WorldCup 2014 in Brazil in which he officiated one match Brazil vs Croatia. In this match he was critized for giving WorldCup host Brazil a doubtful penalty.
