HAUGE
- After Terje Hauge sent off Chelsea's Asier del Horno, death threats appeared on an internet chat for Chelsea fans. One message urged people to find his email address and another wished he would "burn in hell".
- Terje Hauge later admitted he might have acted too quickly in sending off Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann for his foul against Barcelona forward Eto'o. He told a Norwegian newspaper he would have liked to have taken a few more seconds before making a decision. If he'd done that, he stated, he could have given a goal and a yellow card as well. As often, FIFA president Sepp Blatter was quick to criticise his referee. Blatter told BBC Radio Five Live that Hauge "was too fast."
- Hauge won the Kniksen award as referee of the year in the Tippeligaen in 2004 and 2007.
- Before ths CL final Hauge's assistant Ole Hermann posed for a Norwegian newspaper wearing a Barcelona shirt. Consequently he was sent home by FIFA and substituted by country man Arild Sundet.
