RUUD BOSSEN
- Inside the Dutch football association Ruud Bossen has pleaded often to abolish the off-side rule in amateur football.
- Ruud Bossen is known for his strict decisions. In november 2006 he ended a match between ADO Den Haag and Vitesse in the 66th minute when numerous 'supporters' entered the playground.
- In a Sparta-Ajax match in 2006 Bossen sent off Ajax sider Wesley Sneijder for calling him a "typhushond" (a dog with typhoid). In a hearing weeks after the match, Sneijder said he didn't abuse Bossen but had said "typhuslijer" (a person suffering from the same decease) to another player. This started a bit of a discussion about whether being called a sick dog is worse than being called a sick person and whether abusing another player should be just as bad as abusing a referee and reason to be send off.
