Shkoder born Qazim Dervishi (1908-1994) was a multiple sportsman (football, baseball, basketball, athletics) and - for a short time - a football referee.
Dervishi was the first Albanian international referee (actually there were three first intl refs) and took charge of the first international match of Albania, Februari 2nd 1946 against Montenegro (not a FIFA match, Montenegro wasn't a country at the time).
Dervishi brought Basketball to Albania (1928), he trained the team of the school where he worked and refereed matches. He played football for the team Durres and even starred in an international match against a team from Bari. Dervishi scored the first ever goal of the Albanian Championship.
Dervishi was seen by the communists as a follower of King Zog and was arrested and imprisoned between 1947 and 1954 when he was released because of his bad health. Until the end of communism in Albania, Dervishi, paralyzed, lived in dire circumstances.
