1936 OLYMPICS
- Bauwens held a doctorate in law, probably, the sources are not clear about it. He worked in construction. Bauwens' wife was Jewish and killed herself in 1940, a fact that doesn't really belong in this list, but always seems to be mentioned.
- The one match he played for Germany was against Belgium. Belgium won 3-0 and Bauwens was substituted in the 55th minute.
- The 1922 German national Championship final between Nurnberg and HSV was played on June 22 and ended 2-2 at the end of the regular time. Because there were no rules for extra time the match went on and on, exhausting the players. When it was too dark to play, Bauwens stopped the match after 3 hours and ten minutes. Still 2 goals all.
The replay ended in 1-1, when the match was abandoned after 3 Nurnberg players had been sent off and a fourth one had to leave because of an injury. It was decided to award Hamburg the cup providing they would give it back. They did.
(source : David Goldbaltt: The ball is round) - We found the three matches for the Baltic Cup on three consecutive days all officiated by Bauwens in Riga, 1929. This is a bit odd.
