Paul Marum was a(n international) referee in the early years of the 20th century.
- In 1911 the English team was considered the best in the world and scores like 11-0 were not uncommon. But in the friendly against The Netherlands in Amsterdam it was still only 0 - 1 and almost full time when Paul Marum saw a foul and awarded the English a penalty. English captain Woodward however didn't agree with the decision and told the ref his opponent, Lou Otten, hadn't done anything. When Marum showed his doubt, Woodward announced he would miss the penalty on purpose. Marum yielded and play went on.
