It's hard not to mention the Italian football scandal, when you think about Paolo Dondarini. Even though all charges against him were dropped later on, his 3,5 years suspension puts his name forever among the likes of Massimo de Santis and Luciano Moggi. But that was then, hopefully all in the past. Dondarini retired in 2009.

Starting with youth matches, qualifiers for Euro 2008, UEFA Cup and Champions League, Dondarini entered UEFA Cup proper already after a year, in 2006.

He was a UEFA Category 3 referee.

After he retired in 2009, Dondarini became a member of the Serie D referee committee.

BUT

His troubles were not over at all, in December 2009 Paolo Dondarini was sentenced to 28 months of prison. He is unlikely to serve his sentence though, because of the appeals process and a broad pardon for non-violent offenses committed before 2006.
