  • In july 2007 the Confederation of African Football (CAF) uncovered a major bribery scandal in Togo in which Gambian referee Pa Abdou Sarr was involved. CAF stated that Avlessi Adaglo Tata, the elected president of the Togo FA, provided money to a fourth official in an African Under-17 qualifier match between Togo and Tunisia in March 2007. The fourth official passed the money to the referee, Pa Abdou Sarr of Gambia. Togo lost the match 3-0 but still qualified for the U-17 World Cup. (source: freedomnewspaper.com)
