WORLD CUP
- The Zaire team, the first black African team to take part in a World Cup finals, was a side with mostly unknown players who may have looked the same in the eyes of referee Omar Delgado who sent off the wrong player (Ndaye) in the match against Yugoslavia. Delgado refused to listen to Ndaye's protests (of course) but he also ignored another player's (Mwepu) cries, telling him he had committed the foul and not Ndaye.
According to Ndaye, perhaps the most famous African player at that time, Mwepu actually kicked the referee, because he didn't agree with one of his decisions. See also the match.
