There seems to be a small misunderstanding about his name: FIFA calls him Oriekhov and EUFA Orekhov, but it doesn't really matter anymore since he was suspended for life by UEFA, march 2010. Oriekhov was a UEFA Category 2 referee.

Pending investigations about match fixing by the German police, Oleh Oriekhov was suspended for a month by UEFA in February 2010 and then for life a month later. They never tell you why exactly. We will have to read the book.

In 2011 it became known Oriekhov got offered 50.000 Euro to fix the match Basel - CSKA Sofia. The money came from a gambling syndicate.

One of the criminals questioned stated that Oriekhov told him he had made 150.000 Euros fixing matches.

The rules are that referees ought to tell UEFA immediately when they are being asked to fix a match. Oriekhov defended himself by saying his English wasn't good enough and that he didn't know who to to tell.
