In Januari 2011, the Lesotho Referees Association threatened to continue boycotting football matches of Majantja FC of the premier league of Lesotho, because players and supporters of this club "harassed" referee Makhobalo Matheola and his two assistants.
On June 15 2012, he took charge of the friendly match between South Africa and Gabon at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. At 28, he was one of the youngest and most inexperienced officials ever to take charge of a match involving Bafana Bafana. His second linesman Makhetha Patsoane was even younger at 24. Both were in only their first year on the Fifa panel and this was their first-ever senior international.
