bio

Tall and whiskered, Van Moorsel studied at the economic and medical faculty in Rotterdam. He was member of the board of directors of Unilever, one of the founders of the Rotterdam Erasmus university and CEO of the Calve company (mostly peanut butter).

He was arrested by the Germans in 1944 and sent to Germany, but felt no resentment and even worked for a long time in Germany after WWII.

Reading his bio, it is clear that refereeing in a World Cup finals match in 1934 must have been no more than a hobby.

Johannes van Moorsel died in 1977.

and also

Three matches as a linesman in the 1938 World Cup in France.
