At 28 the 3rd youngest referee in the Belgian First League and only a year later the proud owner of a FIFA badge. From 2011 Virant is a UEFA Category 2 referee. September 2011 news reached us Virant had failed the fitness test and was taken off the international panel to be replaced by the (again) youngest Belgian ref ever Jonathan Lardot.

He started refereeing at 20. Virant used to play in the defense for a team called Heidebloem Dilsen, got injured and when he realized he was afraid to get injured again, he quit.

In Belgium it didn't go well for him, November 2011 he was put back to the third division after a bad match.
