Charles Doland Crisp was an amateur goalkeeper for London Hotspur, a middle-weight boxer, swimmer, cricketer, he played tennis and golf and ran the 100 and 200 yards.

Next to an active sportsman, Crisp was a football administrator and organizer. He started as school headmaster who moved to the United States to work for an Insurance Company. Not being able to settle, Crisp an his family returned to England in 1906, to another insurance company job.
Next to his day job Crisp seems to have had enough time on his hands to start a career in football. He was (not at the same time) the chairman of the Middlesex FA, member of the disciplinary and refereeing committees of the FA, co-founder of the Referees� Union, President of the London Athenian amateur league and on the board of Woolwich Arsenal Football and Athletic Company: Arsenal.
Crisp organized tours for Arsenal, Chelsea and the Belgian National Team and became a honorary member of the Belgian FA.

And Crisp was co-owner of a sports newspaper called Football Chat, he wrote for newspapers, he was a lieutenant-Colonel during WWI, a council man and from 1925 mayor of a town called Lewes, reelected 11 times.
Oh yes, and a referee for many years.
Charles Crisp died in February 1953.
