Archibald Rae stood at the birth of the Scottish competition. It was Rae, in the capacity of the secretary of a team called Queen's Park FC (not to be confused with the later QPR), who wrote a letter to the Scottish teams in 1973 to ask them to form an FA. There was a meeting and Rae was elected first secretary of the newly formed association. He was secretary for one year.
