Born in Buenos Aires town of Lanús in March 3rd 1957, Ángel Osvaldo Sánchez has 6 children and is a radiologist. He´s been a referee for more than 20 years, from 1982 to 2006.
Career
His career as a referee started in 1981, and 12 years later he officiated his first match in Argentinian league 1st division, which was Platense-Deportivo Español. He got his FIFA badge in 1994, and he participated in FIFA U-20 World Cup in Nigeria 1999, Copa América Colombia 2001, and also refereed important matches in Copa Libertadores and other South-American big tournaments. He officiated three "Superclásicos" between Boca Juniors and River Plate, one of them, the remembered quarterfinal match (2nd leg) in Libertadores 2000, in Boca´s "Bombonera".

In 2002, when everybody in Argentina expected Horacio Elizondo to be chosen to referee in World Cup Korea-Japan, FIFA (and AFA) picked Sánchez. He refereed two games in the 1st round: Slovenia-South Africa and Portugal-Korea Republic.
Retirement
He left the FIFA list in 2003, but he continued refereeing in the Argentinian league. He retired in 2006, at the age of 49.
