Final

UEFA EURO 1992 final:
Denmark - Germany, 2 - 0. Ullevi, Gothenburg, Sweden, 1992-06-26

Denmark wasn't even meant to be on this tournament, but since Yugoslavia was at war, UEFA asked the best of the losers to join. In the semis Danmark won to the Dutch whose famous striker Marco van Basten missed a penalty in the shoot-out.

according to Bruno Galler
It was all Galler's fault, said the Germans after the match. Galler hadn't whistled for a foul on Brehme (German) just before the 1-0, and the Swiss referee had missed a hands ball before the second goal.
But Galler saw it differenty. The losing team always blames the ref, he said. He diddn't whistle for the tackle on Brehme because he hadn't whistled either when the German himself had fouled a Danish player a few seconds earlier.
He did not notice the hands ball, Galler added that no one in the stadium saw a hands ball either. Later on images of the situation appeared and still Galler thinks Vilfort touched the ball with his chin or breast not with his hands. But he isn't completely sure.

later
In fact the blaming came later, Galler said the Germans didn't complain right after the match.
