Rafael Furchi was born in Ramos Mejia, Buenos Aires, in 1966. His first appearence in Argentinian 1st division was on June 12th 1999, when he refereed a game between Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata and Independiente.

Referee FIFA
He got his FIFA badge in 2003, but he couldn´t show a sufficiently high level to be considered to referee important continental games. He has directed just one Copa Libertadores match (in 2007) and a few others. In Argentinian Apertura 2005, he refereed which is - according to himself - his most important match: the Superclasico between River Plate and Boca Juniors, a boring 0-0 in Monumental. He has refereed more than 170 matches in 1st division. He showed 97 red cards and conceded 49 penalties. He retired internationally at the end of 2010.

Honest
Furchi is a very honest referee and not technically bad, but he suffers from an important lack of personality. That means he´s not always very sure about himself and his calls, and the argentinian players, always crafty, know how to take advantage of this. However, during the last time, Furchi has been working on this and he has certainly improved.
