Frustrated player

A frustrated player, but a top Argentinian referee in the 90s, Roberto Rubén Ruscio was born on September 18th 1953, in Buenos Aires. He decided to start refereeing in 1978 after seeing the retirement of his very admired Angel Coerezza.

Achievements
Ruscio was promoted to the 1st division in 1992, and a year later became an international referee. His biggest honours: refereeing the Superclásico River Plate-Boca Juniors in 1995, and officiating in the Olympic Games Atlanta 1996. He also led big matches in Copa Libertadores and other continental tournaments, and 1998 was his last year as a FIFA referee.

After leaving the FIFA list, Ruscio went on refereeing in his country league. He retired on September 30th 2003, at the age of 50, in a match played between San Lorenzo and Estudiantes.
