After their country's loss in the 2002 World Cup, Italians in the Sicily's Santa Teresa Riva resort named a block of toilets after Byron Moreno.

Elbows in the face, straight legged tackles, the Koreans seemed to get away with it all, very probably the Italians have a case with their accusations.

Byron Moreno even appeared in an Italian satellite TV program called Stupido Hotel where he "danced with aging show girls" (John Foot: Winning at all costs).

In September 2002, as Moreno was running in the elections for a place on the Quito city council, he was suspended for twenty matches and investigated by Ecuadorian soccer authorities as well as by FIFA.

In the 1997 Copa America quarter final Peru-Argentina, Moreno sent off 3 Argentina players with a direct red. His performance in that cup must have set some kind of record, because he showed 6 red cards in 3 matches.
