Like most things in Armenia (toothpaste, streets, cognac), referee Ararat Chagharyan is named after his country's most important - even holy - mountain. He was a UEFA Category 4 referee when he retired internationally at the end of 2009.

The ubiquitous Ararat is actually in Turkey and Ararat Chagharyan (sometimes mentioned as Tchagharian) went to Wales for his perhaps most important international match, a qualifier for Euro 2008. He also took charge of a qualifiers for the UEFA Cup and youth matches.

He looks way too heavy to be a referee, maybe things are different in Armenia.
