Ian Stokes

Ian Stokes received his FIFA badge in 2004. He was a UEFA Category 3 referee until 2011 when he had to retire from refereeing because of a long term Achilles tendon injury. An injury he had been battling for years.

Stokes officiated the 2005 FAI Senior Challenge Cup Final and the semi-final (2007) and the final (2008) of the Setanta Sports Cup (which is played between football clubs from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and that is actually an international match).
He was appointed to the Elite Phase of the UEFA U19 Tournament in Croatia 2006. and participated on the UEFA Talents Program in 2005 and 2006 and worked with mentors Karl Erik Nilsson (Swe) and Rune Pedersen (Nor).

a bit of a mess
In the u19 qualifier Belgium - Craitia for the 2009 European Championships, Stokes showed 10 yellow and 4 red (3 to Croatia) and there were two penalties for Belgium.
