Gilewski

2010-02-23

When Grzegorz Gilewski started internationally he immediately took charge of a 1st round UEFA Cup match. A year later he reached the 2nd round and he steadily worked his way up. From 2007 he officiated matches in the group stage of the Champions league, in December 2008 he lost it all again when he was charged of match fixing.

Gilewski was a referee in the Euro u16 2001 (England) , Euro u21 2004 (Germany) and u17 World Cup in Korea 2007.
He was selected as 4th official for EURO 2008.

2010
On October 24th 2008, FIFA announced that Gilewski, the first and then only professional referee in Poland, was on the provisional list of referees for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

however
February 2010 he seems to be on his way to be reinstated, having successfully fought the charges against him. In an interview he said if this had happened sooner he could have gone to South Africa for the World Cup.
