Born in Hoylake, Chester, England, Athur Battishill Yolland moved to Budapest in 1896 to teach English language and literature at the university. He took up playing football for BTC and officiated (in those days players were asked to referee) the third ever match of the Hungarian National team (against Austria of course)

Arthur Battishill not only played and refereed but also coached. Next to all this he had time to translate many works from English to Hungarian. Arthur Battishill Yolland died in Budapest 1956 (!)
