Klaas Schipper

Player, referee and tobacconist, Klaas Schipper's first ever match as a referee was Blauw Geel vs Groen Geel (blue yellow vs green yellow, they had great names in those days). He was 17 then. In 1935 he entered the highest league in the Netherlands, 11 years and a World War later he received his FIFA. Internationally active between 1947 and 1958.

Internationally Schipper started as a lines man at, for instance, the 1948 Olympic Games. With Leo Horn as the centre ref, Schipper ran the line in the legendary match England - Hungary in 1953.
His first match with national teams was Norway - Yugoslavia in 1949. Klaas Schipper officiated in 8 national team matches in total. He retired in 1959.
Klaas Schipper died in 1961.
