A player for Crew Alexandra since he was 13, John ("Jacky") Hargreaves Pearson became a referee after he had to quit playing because of an injury.

Olympics
As a Player he played one match for his national team. As a referee he took charge of a match in the first ever Olympic football tournament in 1908, and of the 1911 FA Cup. He retired in 1914.
John Pearson died in 1931.
