Idrissa SARR (Mauritania)

2012-06-05

Idrissa Sarr is definitely a key character in African refereeing and certainly a great reference for all Mauritanian referees. Idrissa Sarr is currently working as an instructor and referee observer on behalf of CAF and FIFA after his retirement from international referee.

First international game in 1983
He started his referee career in 1978, and he got his FIFA badge in July 1982. His first international match was a qualifyer game for the late CECAO cup between Sierra Leone and Gambia in 1983.

A unique palmares in Mauritania
Idrissa Sarr is one of the only few referees to officiate in 4 African Nations Cup in a row (Egypt 86, Morocco 88, Algeria 90 and Senegal 92). In 1988 he was the man in charge of the final Cameroon vs Nigeria (1-0) with a penalty goal. He also participated in two Junior World Cups in Saudi Arabia in 1989 and Portugal in 1991.
