World Cup

2009-04-29

Two matches in the 1966 World Cup and four matches at the 1964 Olympic Games (one for the gold medal), but Bulgarian born Ashkenazi's most famous match was a strange one: the World Cup quarter final North-Korea - Portugal.

Eusebio
The North-Koreans had stolen the hearts of the English audience by winning 1-0 against Italy. Then they faced Portugal in the quarter-finals and again they seemed to perform miracles, making 3-0 after the break. Then Eusebio, European footballer of the year, scored 4 times, twice from a penalty, and the dream of the underdogs was shattered.
