Maybe the greatest Austrian referee ever (according to Austrian tv). Ferdinand Marschall became a referee in 1948 and carried a FIFA badge between 1954 and 1956, 1959 and 1962 and between 1965 and 1972.

Marschall refereed more than 900 matches. Including 80 international ones, 23 for the European Cup with as highest honor the final of the 1972 European Championships. Ferdinand also took charge of FIFA World Cup 1970 match in Guadalajara on June 10th, 1970 Brasil vs Romania

As a member of the UEFA referee commission Marschall made sure there was always an Austrian referee at the important championships. For 16 years he also was an official in Austrian referees organisations. He was honor member of the Austrian Football Association – the only official of all Austrian referees who was awarded with this honor.

Mr. Marschall died on November 14th, 2006, in his home village Waldzell (Upper Austria).
