A match in the 1982 World Cup and one at the 1980 Olympic Games and refereeing seemed to be Mario Rubio's life, because after his retirement as a referee among other things he became referee instructor, member of the FIFA referee committee, teacher at a referee college and writer of articles on referee themes.

career
1965, referee college graduate. 1967 debut in the professional league of Mexico, 1974 he gets his FIFA badge, after having only been a First Division ref for two years and after already having taken charge of two international matches.
Football took him to:Honduras, Guatemala, San Salvador, Ecuador, Cuba, Colombia, Paraguay, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Surinam, Moscow, Soviet Union and Spain.
He retired in 1986. Rubio Vazquez took charge of 30 international "A" matches and around 1500 professional matches in Mexico.

Colonel
The Mexicans call him Coronel Rubio, so maybe he was in the army as well.
