Even now the only Croatian referee of UEFA top-class - now Elite - category. Only Ivan Bebek has a chance to reach that level.
He was an assistant referee in the UEFA Super Cup 1991, together with Zdravko Jokic and the match was refereed by Zoran Petrovic .

before the war
Beusan and Petrovic were the best Yugoslavian referees, but Petrovic had more support because he was from the capital.
At that time there was no distinction between referees and assistant referees on the international stage.
Beusan's mentor was Paolo Casarin the Italian referee and they became friends.

after the war
Because of the war all ex-Yugoslavian referees had a two years pause on the international stage, so they all lost their category and never came back on the position they had.

this days
Beusan is legendary for having a hawk-eye, and now he comments on referee decisions on national television.
Last year he broke the connection with the Croatian Football Federation, and retired from the international scene as a referee observer. Rumors have it that he made that decision because the football federation was not happy with his negative comments about some referee's performances.
