World Cups

2012-06-21

Two World Cup finals (1950, 1958) and the 1960 Olympic tournament. An impressive career. Reginald James Leafe, an outside right who had to quit playing because of an injury, died in 2001.

career
He registered to become a referee in 1937 and entered the League ten years later. Took charge of the 1948 FA Cup final (Newcastle - Man City).

clasico
Reg Leafe dissalowed four goals in the European Champions Cup 1 st round match Real Madrid - Barcelona. Some say 4 Madrid goals, some have three for Madrid and one for Barcelona, fact is Madrid lost and for the first time they were out of the competition after having won it 4 times in a row. Again some say it was more or less fixed, that UEFA wanted another winner, not Madrid again. Barcelona reached the final but lost to Benfica.
