BOSSOLINO
- A spectator threw a knife at him during a boca-juniores match 1960
- The Copa Rio Branco was a match between Uruguay and Brazil held irregularly between 1931 and 1976. A friendly, if you will, but one between traditional rivals. The referee for 1967 was to be Aurelio Bossolino. Because he considered Bossolino too honest which might give Uruguay a chance to win, the president of the Brazil FA, Falcao, told the driver who was to pick him up from the airport, to get lost in the city. The Argentinian referee arrived too late at the stadium and Arppi Filho, a Brazilian referee, took over. Brazil won 2-0.
