Not the best referee of the tournament but the obvious choice, and this time he stood the test. Bonaventura Coffi Codjia was the only one on the field who had a good day.

The famous referee from Benin let the players struggle on and did not interfere too much. What is the point to whistle if players of both teams push and pull and fall, if all players miss and let the ball go over the line? And he must have thought that when he showed a Cameroon player a yellow card he had to do the same for one from Egypt. Whatever the cause. The cause wasn't really important.
He was right to ignore a hands ball and a dive both by Cameroon. That was it.
His assistant was wrong about an off side, which could have been important since neither of the teams did anything for an hour after that.

Often semi-finals are better matches than the final and this time it was no exception. Both teams just weren't good enough to get anywhere near the opponents' goal.
