It should have been a more difficult game for the referee to handle, as it was a very crucial one for both teams' chances to reach Paris in 2016, but it wasn't to be. Israel were obviously the better side and by half time have already scored twice. However it does in no way diminish the polished performance of the referee.
Ref and ars
For me, Mr. Mateu Lahoz is currently the best Spanish referee on the international stage. While others are in decline or suffer from imbalanced performances, his stable and consistent. Mr. Lahoz is affable on the one hand, but knows how to explain and demonstrate to players where th buck stops on the other. He let the game flow, using the advantage rule almost to perfection. His foul detection was very good, and the dismissal of Sunjic (Bosnia) for illegally preventing an Israeli (Damari) goal-scoring opportunity was according to the book (48'). Ars Pau Cebrian and Diaz Perez Del Palomar were alright. No replay and two bad angles used for the replay left me wonder if they were right in not waving offside (Del Palomar in minutes 27 and 70 - the third Israeli goal; Pau Cebrian, 45' - the second goal). I would like to accept their decisions, as all three calls were very close ones.
