| Plzen | - | AC Milan |
Istvan Vad was appointed for this match, that is his second in Champions League group stage, after Marseille Zilina one year ago. I thought this year he was ready to reach more important matches, or however at least two appointments in this Group Stage, but maybe UEFA decided in a different way.
Match
This match was not really important: Milan already sure of second place in the group, Viktoria Plzen needing just a draw, to reach EL round of 32. Nevertheless, we have seen a enjoyable game, both teams offered a good show.
First Half
In first half, after only 10 min. Vad had to book immediatly a player, Ambrosini, for a foul. This card seems controversial. Ambrosini did a tackle, but Emanuelsson was already pulling the opponent. So, in my opinion, the card was for the wrong player, although from Vad position the situation was very hard to see well.
Second half
Second half was more intensive, especially in the last minutes, when Vad and assistants had to face and take some important situations and calls. After 10 min, there was a disallowed goal for offside, that was correct. Both Plzen goal were correctly allowed: no offside. Really good work by Ring, after a mistake in first half. Furthermore, a possible penalty situation some moments before the 2-2 score: it wasn't penalty, and Vad, also thank to the first additional assistant referee, took a right decision. A Plzen player was booked for complaints.
Overall
It was a good performance. Maybe assistants had more work to do, than Vad. The important offside calls were correct, but in first half there were two mistakees. Vad had a good foul detection, and his presence on the field was strong.
