Calls: Basel's penalty was inconsistent - he was not giving free kicks for this sort of incidental contact elsewhere on the pitch. Thus he was either wrong to give it, or wrong to not call a lot of other free kicks.8

Style: Positioning was abysmal, got in the way of play far too often.6
General assessmentI disagree with the other assessments. I thought that he was below the required standard in this match. No consistent line on what was and was not a foul, got in the way of some promising attacking moves and had weak body language at times. On a separate note, the purple shirts are awful.

Italian referees have always been known as the best in the world, from Colina to Rossetti and now Rizzoli but yet another good and young Italian referee.
Penalty
Tagliavento called a penalty with ten minutes to go and he got no complaints from anyone especially Antonio Valencia who had committed the foul.
Cards
The two yellows he gave were correct and probably nothing else deserved a card.
English fouls
European referees are always criticized by English clubs and players for calling fouls that are too soft but Tagliavento did very well by letting things go and not being whistle happy.
Overall
Very solid performance but I think he did miss a foul on Park in the second half which was probably of bad positioning or being blocked by another player.
