Australia seem to be much better all match long. They imposed their style to game and made an impressive pressure to their opponents in some sections. On the other hand, statistics doesnt tell the same statement. Costa Ricans attacked approximately five times critically, and scored three goals. That's efficiency. In my point of view, both teams deserve to be here at this tournament. They have showed us an exciting game with no big deal for referee side.
There wasnt any match-decisive call for Schorgenhofer throughout the game. He missed some critical fouls in midfield duels. That caused a little bit tense for both side, but he seem to be determined on his decisions. He hasnt left players in doubt about his decisions. Hence, players respected his whistles. I observe at this tournament that referees have high willingness to rule advantage, referee has applied the rule every well in Min 81 which resulted in a critical goal attempt for Costa Rica. There was a very critical flag by AR2 in Min66 for Costa Rica which seem to be slightly onside to me.
2nd Stage Referees
That will be very hard for referee committee to decide, I guess. Because, most of referee performances were quite good at this tournament. Additionally I believe, Schorgenhofer case hasnt ended yet. We will see hin on 2nd stage. He was solid, but that perfect.
