Jonas Eriksson showed a very good last season, the appointments he has received so far in this season were very good, very good and important matches, like yesterday. Unfortunately, he made a mistake, a match decisive and group influencing mistake, to be more precise, his assistant referee Stefan Wittberg made it.

Overall
I was not totally content with his perfomance due to smaller factors like his movement, his whistle, his way of showing cards, but that is all unimportant as long as the calls are good. And they were with this one exception, very good. In the 27th minute, Ballack (Leverkusen) fell in the box, Eriksson pointed at the penalty spot but then he received a signal of his additional assistant referee 2 Tobias Mattsson who saw the situation (he had to see it!) correctly, it was a stupid dive, a very bad dive.. The cards Eriksson issued were correct, so it is time to concentrate on the match decisive mistake.

68th minute
Leverkusen had just conceded a goal and then they managed to answer: they scored! Everyone knew that it was a regular goal. However, Wittberg raised his flag for offside. A terrible call, there was no contrary movement, it was about a metre onside, he had free view, I do not understand his decision, because even when you stop the replay, it takes about a second until the striker was in offside position. Probably some kind of lack of concentration which costs Leverkusen an important point in their group, let alone three, as a 2-2 would have offered the chance to manage even a win in Estádio Mestalla.

That is the time of the fastest goal ever scored in UEFA CL, Jonas managed to score after a big mistake made by Leverkusen's young goalkeeper. However, this time is still unconfirmed by UEFA, Roy Makaay was a bit faster a few years ago (10,12)
