| Czech Republic u21 | - | England u21 |
It was within ten minutes of the match that England's Young tackeled Czech Daniel Kolar. It was a mean kick, a yellow card kind of a kick, but Zsolt Szabo thought nothing of it. Because of his injury Kolar had to leave the field. So was this mistake by the referee a warning to us all or was it just that: a mistake?
Control
I will keep myself to the list you see to the right of this. Szabo was not really in control. Players were angry, yelled at him and commited a lot of fouls.
Calls
Yeah, well, if a player commits a foul in front of the referee, he whistles, but that doesn't make him a good referee. Szabo missed an elbow by Lita and completely missed a fight between Routlidge and Pudil.
Neutrality
Not good, Szabo favored the English players often.
Style
7 yellow cards in a match between youngsters, who is to blame for that? Not only Szabo of course. But Szabo let bad things happen unpunished and stopped the match many times for nothing, when nothing was going on.
And what a boring game it was, are these the finals? Is this England's future? If it is we can now understand why they need so many foreigners in their teams. They are going to need to do some more shopping.
