In the best match so far of the tournament, there was the worst referee job. Soto looked happy when the actions were starting, but later he showed a worrying lack of concepts, and couldn´t build a solid performance.
Soto started in the wrong direction, because instead of making the game fluent, he cut the actions by whistling because of fouls that only he could see. A couple of his yellow cards were poorly shown: one of them, because of a foul that wasn´t a foul. He conceded 2 or 3 erroneous free kicks that may have influenced the final score.
But also a couple of cards were correctly shown, and in the 1st Chilean goal, the referee and his assistant were OK when convalidating it. There was no off-side there. On the other hand, he booked the Chilean goalie for delaying, but it was an exaggeration by Soto.
Chile showed really good moments of football, with nice combinations between Alexis Sanchez, Suazo and Fernandez. They won with justice against a pale Mexican team. This one will also be a very disputed group.
