| Argentina OT | - | Australia OT |
A very quiet game for Kassai and his assistants. No fouls during the first quarter of the 1st half, and only two yellow cards in the match. Argentina was much better than Australia, but only could score at 77´after a very well played action finished by Lavezzi.
6 seconds
The most remarkable thing of the referee job was that Kassai decided to penalise the Australian GK for keeping the ball in his hands for more than 6 seconds. That rule, which was introduced years ago, is not used very frequently. The Australian goalie was determined to delay - in fact, I think that later he was booked for delaying - and he probably kept the ball 7 or 8 seconds. But, as the rule is not used very often, Kassai seemed very severe when he whistled for that. But he was OK.
Correct
Appart from that Kassai didn´t have any problems. He officiated his way, prefering to talk and not to book. He showed the only yellow for violent play only 5 minutes before the end after a hard foul against Riquelme. In fact, the game helped Kassai style because there weren´t controversial actions. At least in one situation, he should have shown one more yellow card. But... this one was a good job, and a nice evening for Kassai and the rest of the team from Hungary.
