Control: he was incontrol but whistled far to much making the whistle somewhat ineffective
Calls: Rizzoli was inconsitent today his foul detection was below wasnt at its best and neither was his car policy his assistants didnt help with certain calls
Neutrality: ok i suppose
Style: Rizzoli seemed more flambouant than normal
Rizzoli had an average game but at this level average wasnt good he whistled far to much when he didnt need to and missed a number of clear fouls but then again so did his assistamts his card policy was unfair as he only caution English players and let a number of synical french takles escape unpunished as well as the french number 6 to persitently infinge the laws of the game. Next time i would like to see Rizzoli perform as he doesnt in the CL because this perfermance was below par for him I wounder what his mentor ( Pierluigi Collina - Head of UEFA refereeing) would say ?
Once again I am extremely happy that the players decided the match today. At the end of the day you have to give Nicola Rizzoli his credit for that. He allowed the game to be hard fought and wasn't going to be the deciding factor. How ever though Rizzoli is a FIFA referee and must apply all laws of the game. Nicola missed some critical foul decisions in dangerous areas and the lack of concentration to have an improper restart of the match is beyond me.
Calls: I actually liked his foul detection. ARs struggled with offside decisions but none were important.
Neutrality: non-calls slightly favored France but nothing really noticeable.
Style: I liked his style of staying out of the way and letting the players play rather being fussy and pedantic like some others we have seen
Rizzoli is basically the opposite of Lannoy who seems to whistle almost every contact (and non-contact). I like this style much more and want to see how it works in a more difficult game. Good performance but nothing very difficult.
