Only three yellow cards in a match with Portuguese, Spanish, Russian and assorted Eastern European players, Mark Clattenburg had no difficulty with this lot. Some matches are about football and not the referee, this was one of them.
This stalinesque mega concrete stadium that sounded like when you yell in an empty swimmingpool, should not be used for a match like this. I think Lokomotiv could have won if they'd played in a smaller stadium with better accoustics, the spectators closer to the field and no large empty parts. But that doesn't have anything to do with Mark Clattenburg who did well this time. Both teams scored three times and as it is with most six goal matches this one was worth watching.
