| England u21 | - | Italy u21 |
Now this was a real match. Two teams that wanted to win and wanted to do it by playing football and not by psychological warfare. Luckily they got a good referee who kept the pace in the match and (almost) didn't bother himself with small things.
behaviour
Apart from a referee who is fair and has a good eye, Damir Skomina is also a little bit too strict with the rules for unsportive behaviour. He booked Baines for kicking away (very softly) the ball and Carson, the goalie, for taking his time. Sure, Skomina has to do that, but he could have warned them first, which he didn't. I think a referee should judge for himself whether to book for "bad" behaviour, instead of following the rules.
match
The English scored twice, then gave the match away and even seemed to give it up. The Italians turned out to have a good team after all.
