For a while Benquerenca headed both WorldReferee's best and worst referee list. In this match he was good. A bit dictatorial, sure, not a 100% great, sure, but a good ref none the less.

I think he booked Bellamy because he didn't like him. Bellamy put his hand in his opponent's face, but not as a slap. Later on in the match Bellamy did it again, so consider the yellow as an advanced warning.
Benquerenca allowed keeper Given to jump to the right and left just before the penalty was executed.

Manchester City are not a team, they are some Kuwaiti billionaire's toy and they have been a Thai criminal's investment. Not really a team to be a fan of. And Man City wasn't very good either, there didn't seem to be a plan, except for getting the ball to the other side, with or wihtout a player.
