UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE 2011-2012 group stage:
Internazionale - CSKA Moskva, 1 - 2. Giuseppe Meazza, Milan, Italy, 2011-12-07

David Fernandez Borbalan, a referee with big matches in his palmares both at home and in UEFA competitions. Probably this was the biggest challenge so far in his short international career.

Performance
We can say he has good potential, he did a reasonable job today. Foul detection: just some minor mistakes. Card management: in my opinion he missed two YC in the first half, one against each team. In the second half we start with two great minutes 50-51 with goals for both teams. Doubts about the goal of CSKA, we cannot say if he is a bit off-side or not. Tough call by the assistant, I have my doubts about that. Wrong off-side call in min 65. Apart from that the assistants were OK. Just some minor mistakes. Minute 69: I can't understand why he showed a yellow card for that foul. No need, and against the criteria he was using. At 90+1 a possible handball situation. To me it's a penalty. The CSKA player blocks the ball progression and he actually moves his arm in the ball direction. We can argue that he tried to protect his face or something like that... but to me it was a real tough decision, and i don't agree with the spanish team.
