When I created a "warm-up" for this Under 20 World Cup by summarizing the last competition in Egypt, I finally calculated the average of yellows and reds. 5,1 yellow cards per match and 0,6 red cards per match was the final result. As we have now seen all the officials one can question why e.g. the yellow card average decreased by 2. Now we have about 3 yellows per match as Carlos recognized it yesterday. In most of the matches, one can observe not merely ludic poverty but no bigger decisions as well..consequently I wonder whether it is the right way to test the officials who are under observation (prospective referees) for Brazil 2014 by these youth tournaments.
Strombergsson..
A few of us constituted that Strombergsson was the most surprising name from UEFA zone even though he officiated at UEFA U21 Euro in Denmark a few weeks ago. His career start was not that great, he had some weak perfomances in the Euro 2012 qualifiers and especially in Euro League. In Denmark, he showed us that he is capable to adapt the course of the match, i.e. that he adapts his style to the match. He is a calm referee but when the match is intense and even unfair, he is capable to leave this way. A skill which not every referee has, even CL final referees are not capable of that...
Calls
An easy-going match with no bigger situations. That's why I spent more time with drivel..both cards were absolutely ok, offside decisions rare but always correctly seen. When it was possible, he let the play go on. He did everything correctly, but it is no 8 in calls when taking the match difficulty of this match into consideration.
