Most, if not all, of the reports here are very positive about Carballo. I may be the only one, but I am not convinced yet.
Of course I would like his style to catch on: Let it all go. Keep those cards hidden in a secret little place. Yet, I think there were moments where a booking would have been appropriate. What about a deliberate hands ball? A really bad tackle? One has to set an example now and again, no?
For some reason, it all went right. Most probably because Schalke just gave up in the end. Schalke were never really going to fight. They knew they were lucky to have come this far.
I do believe Carballo saw everything. He didn't miss a foul. He just wanted to be as lenient as he possibly could. That is to be commended. It is also quite dangerous. It's where a star player's career may be destroyed.
