in the cold

2011-02-18

The Europa League 2011 match Rubin - Twente was played in Moscow because Rubin's hometown Kazan was too cold to play. But it was cold in Moscow too. According to UEFA rules a match can't be played when it's colder than -15 Celcius. The Twente officials' thermometer showed minus 17, but the sign in the Luznikhi stadium said -14,2.
The Twente doctor didn't like it, the players didn't like it, but they had to play. Clad in their newly bought thermo kit, they entered the field shivering. Rubin, used to arctic circumstances thought they had the advantage, and they had in the first half. However in the second half Twente forgot about the cold, scored twice and won.
Cool kid Schorgenhofer wore shorts over bare legs as if it was summer.
